Russian social networking site Odnoklassniki located at the web address Odnoklassniki.ru is hosted on a server which is located in Moscow. In English it means Classmates.

The very popular Russian website is very similar to the Facebook social networking website. Odnoklassniki.ru is owned by the company Digital Sky Technologies which is also is based in Moscow, Russia.

The Russian internet investment company Digital Sky Technologies runs the largest Russian speaking internet company Mail.ru providing the largest emailing,social networking and gaming sites in the Russian speaking world.

Recently Digital Sky Technologies made an investment in Facebook for an addition $125 million dollars adding to its already invested $200 million in 2009.

1. To register with Odnoklassniki navigate to the web address www.odnoklassniki.ru and click on the tab register. Now when you visit the site it will be in Russian so if you are using Google Chrome it can easily be translated to English.
2. Fill in the appropriate information on the next screen. If the page doesn't translate to English right click on the page and choose translate to English in the open box.
3. Information to add consists of Name,date of birth,country of residence,login name, password and finally the captcha.
4. The next page is a box to type the place of study to find classmates and friends.You can use a College or University in Russia for this entry.
5. Add friends in the same group or just click Join with the Join button located at the bottom of the screen.
6. Next in Step 2 enter an email address at which time you will receive a confirmation email.Click on the link in the email to confirm registration.

8. Then step 4 Activate for Free button. The next screen to pop up will ask for a SMS text number to send a code for the free activation. Because I used United States the spot for the SMS had the international code already inserted. The SMS only took less than 2 minutes to receive with the 4 number code to finish activation.

Now that we have created an account its time to set up a profile page and begin to meet new and old friends but better yet expand our social contacts with the world and the friendly people in the Russian community.

Google translate can be used as part of the Google Chrome browser or can be accessed through other browsers to help with translating the Russian language Odnoklassniki pages.
